Sarangkot is a former Village Development Committee north of Pokhara in the Kaski District. It is the most popular tourist destination. It offers a lovely location to view sunrise over the Himalayas with a clear view of both the Annapurna range and the Machhapuchare mountains. The attractive point of the hill station is for sunrise and sunset views over the snowy peaks. Plus, Pokhara valley and the Phewa lake look even more beautiful. Also, it is the easiest and shortest hiking hill from Pokhara which is the best-known sunrise, view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Fishtail, and beautiful green hills. The height is 1600 meters – it doesn’t require any serious prior accommodation to complete it. Sarangkot can be reached easily by 45 minutes by a car ride to the top from Pokhara. And, then 45 minutes hike up to the main viewpoint.
Plus, the hill station is famous for cycling. For hiking, there are two paths. One path is from Sedi Bagar and another is MoonBow hotel. The duration for hiking is 2.5 – 3 hr. It is a combo of stairs and a steep walking path. Besides this, the most popular start of the Sarangkot hike is Sedi Bagar. It is good preparation for a longer trek. Paragliding can also be done from Sarangkot which gives an eye-catching landscape view. In addition, Annapurna Cable Car Pvt Ltd is all set to develop a cable car facility along with the tourism hub Sedibagar – Sarangkot from Phewa lake in Pokhara within one and a half years. The cable car facility gives people to experience the sunrise, sunset, Phewa lake, World Peace Stupa, snow-capped mountain ranges, and green forests.
There are several suitable places to organize paragliding, but Sarangkot(1592 m) is the best of all in Pokhara. We would go on a flight of at least 30 to 45 minutes, providing an exciting experience that would cherish for the rest of my life.
